Christmas SALE - Magic at the Museum

Magic at the Museum was short-listed for the Manitoba Book Awards "Best Illustrated Book of 2008".

Magic at the Museum hit bestseller status in Winnipeg for the week of 6 Sept 2009.

And, now you can buy it with free shipping until 09 Dec 2009.

It is Anne's birthday. Her mother takes her to a museum and gives her a necklace. Anne does not want to look at the paintings in the quiet gallery; she wants her cake. She falls asleep and encounters the best birthday party of all.

The children's book, "Magic at the Museum", is set in the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, where I did a masters degree in art history. The paintings come alive, jump out of their picture frames, and lead Anne on a marvelous adventure on London's Somerset House skating rink. It is the perfect story for Christmas, and it is loved by people of all ages!

It is the perfect book to introduce young children to art and museums and teach them in a fun and whimsical way. All the paintings featured in the book are in the permanent collection of the Courtauld Gallery, and can be seen on any trip to the museum.

This book is a testament to the success of indie business. I started my own publishing company to print this book, and within one year the book was nominated for an award and went on the Bestseller list.

You can buy it from ETSY, or go to my BLOG and click the top PAYPAL link. The book will ship in a bubble envelope from my home in Steinbach, MB. All copies are signed with the original pen I used to do the illustrations. Be sure to order before the 9th of December, because my Christmas elves are flying to London (UK) on the 10th and won't be able to send any books out after that! :-)

Or, you can pop down to your local McNally Robinson Booksellers to pick up a copy. I suppose that would have free shipping as well! :-)

Magic at the Museum is a Winnipeg Bestseller!

Hi, I'm Jane Heinrichs, and I've been a part of WEST since its beginning. I'm a children's book writer and illustrator (as well as an artist) and my book "Magic at the Museum recently made it to the #2 spot on the Winnipeg Bestseller list for the week of 6 Sept 2009. It even muscled its way past Sendak's classic "Where the Wild Things Are" and the Twilight series. :-)

Make sure you buy your copy of the Winnipeg Free Press on Sunday where the list will be published for all to see!

I want to send out a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who bought my book. This kind of affirmation means the world to me.

"Magic at the Museum" had a slow start. I had the option of publishing it with a well-known publishing company, but opted to print it myself to keep my creative integrity. (the big company wanted to make changes to the book that I wasn't comfortable with) I printed it in Manitoba exactly a year ago, and it has had a slow rise in popularity since then. I have worked very hard to promote the book in shops, schools, and everywhere I go. One thing I've learned is that it isn't hard to sell a product if it is something you believe in. And, if it is excellent quality, it ends up selling itself!

This is just confirmation that if you work really hard at something you believe in, success is sure to follow!

Yours

"Magic at the Museum" short-listed for Manitoba Book Award

Hi Everyone,

I'm very excited to announce that my self-published children's book, Magic at the Museum, was just short-listed for the Manitoba Book Awards "Best Illustrated Book of 2009". This is such a huge milestone accomplished in such a short time. Exactly one year ago I was contemplating whether or not my little book would ever get published. I spoke with my Mom and she decided that we would start our own company and publish it ourselves. We went to press in September, and since then things have progressed rapidly. It hardly seems believable that a small effort could reap such rewards!

The awards ceremony is on April 25 at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. It is open to the public, so feel free to come along if you like.

It is amazing what home-grown things can accomplish if you work hard enough!

All the best!

Book Signing this Saturday at Chapters St Vital

Link
Hello fellow Winnipeg Etsyians! My name is Jane Heinrichs (my shop is JaneHeinrichs). I've just started out on Etsy and I'm looking forward to meeting fellow crafty Winnipeggers.

I recently wrote, illustrated and self-published a children's book called, "Magic at the Museum." It is about a little girl, Anne, who visits and art gallery and has a marvelous adventure. The paintings in the gallery jump out of their picture frames and lead Anne on a face-paced romp around the building.

It is already getting some critical acclaim in Winnipeg (and London, England, where I am currently studying).

I would love to invite you to my book signing at Chapters St Vital on Saturday 20 December from 1-4pm. I love meeting people, and I look forward to seeing you there!
