Long Over Due Introduction
Hi fellow creative souls,
It seems that while I've been lurking and commenting I have not taken the 2 minutes to introduce myself. Time to rectify that I say!
My name is Ruth Smith. A plain name for a plain looking gal who likes to make pretty things.
By day I commute in my mini-van to a large OEM factory where I corral cats as an IT Project Manager. By night I create in the little back corner studio in my suburban home.
In between I teach my daughter to be strong, my son to show emotion and my husband to pick up his socks. Teenagers are the biggest challenge I have faced so far. When there's time left over I indulge in my many other hobbies. I liked vampires before they were cool (or wimpy) and have always been a nerd.
I have been creating for decades and through many trends I've learned to knit, crochet, cross stitch, sew, sketch, embroider, embellish, fabric paint and a boat load of other endeavors.
Currently I am obsessed with jewelry making and when beads became boring I created a fun little geekdom for myself at www.periwinkledzyns.etsy.com where I showcase my nerdy creations made from obsolete computer parts.
Looking forward to meeting more of the team!

Magic at the Museum is a Winnipeg Bestseller!
Hi, I'm Jane Heinrichs, and I've been a part of WEST since its beginning. I'm a children's book writer and illustrator (as well as an artist) and my book "Magic at the Museum recently made it to the #2 spot on the Winnipeg Bestseller list for the week of 6 Sept 2009. It even muscled its way past Sendak's classic "Where the Wild Things Are" and the Twilight series. :-) Make sure you buy your copy of the Winnipeg Free Press on Sunday where the list will be published for all to see!
I want to send out a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who bought my book. This kind of affirmation means the world to me.
"Magic at the Museum" had a slow start. I had the option of publishing it with a well-known publishing company, but opted to print it myself to keep my creative integrity. (the big company wanted to make changes to the book that I wasn't comfortable with) I printed it in Manitoba exactly a year ago, and it has had a slow rise in popularity since then. I have worked very hard to promote the book in shops, schools, and everywhere I go. One thing I've learned is that it isn't hard to sell a product if it is something you believe in. And, if it is excellent quality, it ends up selling itself!
This is just confirmation that if you work really hard at something you believe in, success is sure to follow!
Yours
Jane Heinrichs

Another Introduction!
Hi everyone!
My name is Julie, and I am so thrilled to be a part of the W.E.S.T team!
I am a stay at home mum to three little guys, and in my spare time I love to sit in front of the sewing machine to create items for my shop!
Always Inspire is a shop where you can find chic women's accessories, ranging from mini wallets to notepad organizers to sunglasses cases and more. I absolutely LOVE to sew and put together fabulously gorgeous fabrics! My goal is to make beautiful items while keeping them affordable. I am currently in the midst of re-organizing my shop and will be introducing new items in the coming weeks, which I'm very excited about!
You can find my shop at www.alwaysinspire.etsy.com
I also have a blog, which can be found here: www.alwaysinspire.blogspot.com

Introducing Myself
Hi everyone!
I just wanted to take this chance to introduce myself. My name's Darlene Elizabeth, and I am the face behind 'Elizabethxoxo'. I've been making wire wrapped jewelry for about a year and a half, trying out different styles and techniques the whole way along. I had known about Etsy for a while when I decided that I wanted a shop of my own in hopes of turning my little hobby into a business of my own. So I created Elizabethxoxo.
I am also a university student - as I'd like to one day become an elementary teacher, however I don't think even then I'll stop making my jewelry. When you love doing something it sticks with you no matter what, so I don't think having a full time day job will change anything for me. Feel free to check out my shop and my personal blog:

I was born in Winnipeg and I've lived my whole life here, so I'm very excited to be part of a team that is Winnipeg based. Thank you for including me!
