WESTie Wednesday with Ashley Erika of Ashley Erika Crafts

Welcome to WESTie Wednesday, where each week we get to know a proud WEST member and their Etsy shop! Learn about Ashley Erika and her Etsy shop Ashley Erika Crafts!

"I sell women's scarves and accessories and have a small collection of home decor items. My focus is on comfort, style, and versatility."

'My shop began after I discovered my passion for knitting and crochet. I started with making scarves that I sold to my family and friends and eventually created my online shop. I love to create every day from the comfort of my home, but I tend to take my projects with me everywhere I go! I'm always thinking up new projects and designs, and am currently beginning to work on a new fall 2015 collection which will be launched in late August or early September! For the summer months I make home decor, which is what you will currently see much of in my shop."

"I have found something I'm passionate about and love to share it! Shipping things across the world is the greatest thing about having an online shop."

WESTie Wednesday ft. Hilori of Hilori's Magical Yarnorium

Welcome to WESTie Wednesday, where each week we get to know a proud WEST member and their Etsy shop! Learn about Hilori and her Etsy shop Hilori's Magical Yarnorium!

'I am a stay at home mother of two young, beautiful and inspiring girls. I hatched the idea of starting my own business while I was on maternity leave for my second babe and housebound in one of Winnipeg's most brutal winters in a century. Having a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a background in design, paint and photography, I wanted to use my skills to build a career using my creativity in a field I feel very passionate about: wool.'

'All of the items in my shop are made by me, in my spare time in my studio which I call "The Yarnorium." It is a small room in my home that is full of yarn, fibre, fabric and anything crafty. All of my colourways are named after things in my life that have left a lasting impression, from nostalgia to pop culture to general sci-fi nerdiness.

All of my materials are Canadian sourced and/or purchased from Canadian suppliers in an effort to keep it Canada local and boost our terrific economy. I'm proud of where I live and the incredible resources we have!'

'I sell hand dyed gradient yarns and fibres, as well has hand crafted top whorl spindles and hand sewn boxy project bags. My demographic is young and young-at-heart knitters, crocheters, websters (weavers), spinsters (spinners) and crafters in general. There is something in store that appeals to all ages.

I have an Etsy shop so I can live the dream of staying home with my two girls and still provide for my family in an enriching, creative way.'

July 25th - Item of the Day

Hand Dyed Blue Face Leicester Yarn by WWNaturals

100% BFL yarn, hand dyed by me using acid dyes. Gorgeous jewel tones, brilliant colors, in greens, violets and peachy brown. This yarn is SO soft, and will knit up just beautifully. Plenty of yardage here for whatever the project.

DK weight
3.7 oz or 105 grams
12-14 WPI
225 m/246 yds per 100 grams
Mordant used: vinegar and citric acid (may be a slight smell, I didn't want to over wash. If there is a smell, it will wash out when you wash your project.)

Has been rinsed thoroughly, should be washfast, but handle with care. Wash in cold, lay flat to dry. NOT superwash.

Enjoy using these wonderful colors in your project! Thanks for looking.
