Customer Service Sundays ft ChunkyKnitz!

Welcome to Customer Service Sunday! This lovely Sunday, we feature proud WESTie ChunkyKnitz! Read on to learn about how she goes the extra mile for YOU!

Hi, I am Ashley, the maker behind ChunkyKnitz.
Customer service is very important to me and a big part of that, in my opinion, is the experience of receiving your ChunkyKnitz. I put effort, thought, and a significant amount of branding into my packaging and always hope that the customer senses that and enjoys the experience.

Recently, I received an email from a very satisfied customer. Ashley, your creation is wonderful. It is beautiful and I know my Mom will love it. Also, I must comment not only on you having personalized bags but also your seal on the attached note. Truly, these small touches separate you from the rest. It is such a nice business touch. Thank you for your time and effort in making this such a great gift for Mom.”

WESTie Wednesday : ft LisaWhitehouseArt!

Welcome to WESTie Wednesday, where each week we get to know a proud WEST member and their Etsy shop! Learn about Lisa and her shop LisaWhitehouseArt!

"I started painting in Spring of 2015 and I realized I truly loved painting with watercolours. I have been addicted ever since! I paint wildlife as well as commissioned pet portraits. I am still so new to the art world and I am learning as I go. I started by putting everything I paint on Etsy, but as I paint every day I have come to realize that would be too many to manage. Now I pick the pieces that translate best to prints and that people who follow me on facebook like best."

"I sell prints of my original watercolours. I hope to some day sell originals as well but so far I haven't held onto them long enough for them to make it to Etsy :) My demographic is anyone who loves art and appreciates the beauty and loose style of watercolours."

"Etsy is so easy to use and I love that it connects artists in all categories. It is truly a one stop shop for all things handmade and I am so proud to be a part of it!"

WESTie Wednesday ft. Leiah of Old-Timey Herb Co!

Welcome to WESTie Wednesday, where each week we get to know a proud WEST member and their Etsy shop! Learn about Leiah and her Etsy shop Old-Timey Herb Co.!

"Hello! My name is Leiah Cassian Beck and I run Old-Timey Herb Co.

I am a gardener, a maker, a do-er, a cook, a pyrotechnician and a herbalist.
I began seriously studying herbs in 2012, completing a diploma program at Dominion Herbal College. I continue my herbal education through workshops and courses, creating and exploring new ideas (and testing them out on friends and loved ones!)"

"I have always been in love with nature, growing things, making things and helping people. Learning about herbs has allowed me to combine all the things I love. I take my inspiration from my surroundings; my husband and I live in the woods near Sandilands Provincial Forest and our property is full of life and amazing opportunities, from the wild mint that grows abundantly through the summer to the fragrant cottonwood buds that only make their appearance once a year. On the weekends you will find me either in the woods with bundles of yarrow and clover in my arms or in my kitchen working on new products or ideas."

"I sell hand-made herbal remedies and skin care products. My goal is to provide people with natural choices for themselves and their families.

I have always loved Etsy. I have spent lots of time browsing and admiring the creativity of people, from innovative ideas to beautiful photography. I love supporting small independent businesses. I actually registered my shop many years before opening it. I just knew that one day I would have a shop of my own. My husband encouraged me to just finally go ahead and open it up (probably because he was tired of all of the things I was making piling up around the house!)"

WESTie Wednesday with Leanne of papercanoedesign!

Welcome to WESTie Wednesday, where each week we get to know a proud WEST member and their Etsy shop! Learn about Leanne and her Etsy shop papercanoedesign!

"
I'm a graphic designer, illustrator and artisan, living in Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada). I have a love for design and print: my aim is to make the complicated simple, to see the beauty in things, and make them known to others. I'm a city girl married to a country boy and a blessed mother to a princess and a couple of handsome little guys. My childhood was filled with camping, canoeing, loving and respecting the outdoors - where I draw much of my inspiration from. What else can I say? I recycle, I cut up the plastic 6-pack rings for the good of the fish and the birds. I hate popping balloons or having elastics shot at me. I try not to take myself too seriously, I aim to focus on the good in people, and am all about spreading the joy. And I sure do like long walks on the beach. My Etsy shop is a place for me to showcase my art prints and stationery, providing options for both digital and physical items. I welcome custom requests and enjoy working with customers to achieve the exact look they are going for! Everything I create is something I would have in my own home, and I often am switching out my frames to showcase the latest and greatest Paper Canoe art. A lot of my art prints stem from fabrics that I've designed, and you can often find coordinating prints in my Spoonflower.com shop. For my physical option, I have a local small business printer who does an amazing job printing my products on 310gsm smooth 100% cotton fine art paper, mould made, acid and lignin free. I have the most amazing studio set up on a landing on my second floor with gorgeous natural light streaming through the windows most of the day.... which I never use except to pile orders and works in progress upon my desk. As a stay-at-home mom, I set up at the kitchen table during the day while my Littles run around me and (hopefully) nap. I have had to adapt to 5 minutes here, 5 minutes there - making the most of any free time I have, while putting my sweet Littles first. And my house last haha"

"
My Etsy shop is an eclectic bundle of art prints and stationery - prints for the nursery, a child's room, and anywhere in your home to inspire the young at heart. I always aim for minimal and modern, sometimes with a hipster twist."

"[Etsy is] a creative outlet! I love to create, and it's the perfect avenue to offer my art to others."

"
I am a wife and a mom to 3 wonderful little ones. My time as a stay at home mom is spent being a mom and creating my jewelry. My office is set up in our basement, right beside our children's play room; when they play I create :)

I work mostly with stainless steel--my technique is hand stamping...creating unique and personalized items. I love working with different metals and applying different finishes to the metal to create eye catching pieces."

"Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings, key chains, purse clips, book marks, Christmas ornaments, spoons and dog tags! My items are enjoyed by all, young and old, whether it is a necklace to display a family tree, a key chain to celebrate a milestone, a baby's spoon with their name, or a Christmas ornament to cherish a missed loved one. WESTie Wednesday ft. DesignMolloy!

Welcome to WESTie Wednesday, where each week we get to know a proud WEST member and their Etsy shop! Learn about Colette and her Etsy shop DesignMolloy!

"
A dynamic duo is behind the scenes of design molloy. We have been friends for over a decade and despite living in separate provinces (Manitoba & Saskatchewan), we are able to work efficiently and very effectively together to create all types of graphic designs. It all started when a birth announcement caught my eye one day and I shared it with my friend Debbie. Creative juices started flowing between us and we collaborated on a unique design - a piece of art that told the story of her first born's arrival into this world. Since that first step, we have been honored with creating all types of unique designs that share important life stories! The birth of design molloy was with this flagship "birth story" and we continue to branch out with new designs. We are inspired in many ways - by our friends, family, authors, musicians, amazing Etsians and local artists, nature and the world around us. I am the primary graphic designer behind our shop's creations and Debbie provides consulting services that includes both creative and business support. The other hats we wear - we are both mommas, I am a photographer and Debbie is a consultant pharmacist. We use Adobe software to create our masterpieces and utilize DropBox, email, texting and Skype to share back and forth. Thank goodness for technology. We print in house for sizes up to 12x18" on our high quality, professional Epson printer and out source for larger sizes and specialty items such as cards, banners, wedding invitations, etc...."

"We provide graphic design services of all types. We specialize in word art creations (typography) and enjoy creating fresh word art versions of existing business logos. We also create new branding looks for businesses, invitations of all types, cards, banners, brochures, etc... Custom projects are exceptionally rewarding for us because we are passionate about bringing your unique story to print. Our Etsy Shop houses many of our creations and the library is growing. There is a selection of family-related gifts that can be personalized to suit the client's needs (e.g. family trees, name prints, grandparent gifts). As well, we offer many inspirational quotes, nursery / children's art, poems, wedding gifts, in addition to our flagship birth stories!"

"Etsy is an excellent platform for us to share our gift-related pieces and provides motivation for us to keeping creating and listing new items. Etsy works well for our busy lifestyles and makes it easy to be two provinces apart and still collaborate!"

WESTie Wednesday ft. OakhornShop!

Welcome to WESTie Wednesday, where each week we get to know a proud WEST member and their Etsy shop! Learn about Lauren and her Etsy shop Oakhorn Shop!

"
My name is Lauren and I love knitting, languages, and travelling, even if it's simply taking a flight of fancy. OakhornShop developed out of a love for exploring and discovering the world, if only on a sofa at home. I started knitting maps on socks, but was eager to try something new, and made my first knit map in January, 2014, as a gift for a friend. I enjoyed the process so much that I have continued to knit my way around the world, even making custom orders of different countries. Knitting maps enables me to work in a medium I love, using a variety of colours and soft textures, while taking imaginary trips across the country and around the globe. I have lived in France and Germany, and am proud to call Winnipeg home."

"I make knit map artwork, that means knitting to hang on a wall and warm the room it's in. These maps are 8x10 and come shipped in a box to protect the map. They are all made with sock grade wool to allow for intricate details."

"I really love it when other people get excited by what I do and take an interest in fine knitting. Etsy is a place to share that with others!"

Check back soon, OakhornShop's preparing to reveal some exciting new products!

WESTie Wednesday ft. BlackKnotFarm!

Welcome to WESTie Wednesday, where each week we get to know a proud WEST member and their Etsy shop! This Wednesday, we learn about Etsy shop BlackKnotFarm!

"
I've been a graphic arts public school teacher for almost 20 years. I am divorced and have two beautiful grown daughters. I have always loved creating and making things. Simplicity and usefulness are important to me. I'm always learning a new skill or trying a new technique. Over the years my family came to prefer my handmade gifts over purchased ones and friends started asking me to make them certain things. I love creating and making things beautiful especially out of clay, wood and or fabric. I will try anything once and some things several times! I was lucky enough a few years back to buy a rural property with mature trees and an old farm house. The yard is a beautiful and inspiring 14 acre park that needed tlc and is flourishing now. I learned a lot of construction techniques renovating my home myself, and now that it is mostly complete, my energies are again being funneled into making beautiful things. My farm is my inspiration and where I get most of my supplies for creating."

"I sell one of a kind natural handmade pieces. I use clay, wood, paint, leather, both natural and recycled materials. My greatest pleasure comes from making something beautiful out of nothing. I believe my demographic would be women ages 25-100 with a mid to high socio-economic status."

"I am working towards starting my own business creating and selling my work and producing rentable objects for rustic weddings."
